Description

Fulcrum Rotary Dryer, Natural Gas Burner and Air System includes:


The Rotary Dryer System is comprised of the following components:

1. One Infeed rotary airlock, 36x36, flex tip rotor, complete with heavy-duty bearings, 7.5

HP motor and drive and One (1) Infeed Screw Conveyor, 30”, approximately 10’ long,

with 7.5 HP motor and drive. Screw conveyor will discharge directly into drum inlet

endplate.

1. One Drum Inlet Endplate, complete with furnace connection, water deluge, infeed

screw connection or infeed chute, access door and sight port. Inlet end plate is

stationary with a high temperature dryer inlet seal to minimize ingress of fugitive air into

Rotary Dryer.

1. One Rotary Drum Model is a 13-ft. dia. x 60-ft. long heavy-duty industrial dryer. The

rotary drum is a reverse flow 8-zone rotary dryer with two (2) distinct single and triple

pass zones for more efficient drying by impinging air/material technology in an

increasing velocity design for material separation, evacuation, minimization of VOC-

formation and product degradation.

The drum utilizes two (2) AISI 1045 forged and rolled steel tracks, wedged to the drum’s

outer shell with an adjustable wedge design. Securing the drum tracks in this manner

provides air space between drum’s outer shell and inside face of the 2 of 5

track, limiting overheating of track and its’ failure by reducing thermal and dynamic stresses.

The drum is fitted with a full-tooth shell-mounted sprocket, cut to match a 4.063” pitch

engineering chain. The sprocket is bolted to shell-mounted angles.

The drum’s outer shell is cladded with 16-gauge, AISI 304L stainless steel sheeting to

provide a 2-inch insulating air-space between the drum’s outer shell and stainless steel

cladding.

1. One Saddle Drum Drive, consisting of shaft-mount reducer, 40 HP motor and belt

drive, drive sprocket, shaft and bearing assembly, engineering chain, chain guide

assembly, idler sprocket and chain adjustment plate, drive shaft and bearing assembly

and lubricator. Unit is completely shop-mounted and assembled for one-piece shipment.

The drive will be designed to turn the drum at approximately 6 RPM. Drive frame and

base are heavy-duty structural steel complete with 1-in. thick plates for anchoring to

concrete piers. Saddle drive offers safe, low-speed, high-torque drum operation. Heavy-

duty saddle type design offers easy start-up in case of excessive live drum loads.

1. One set of front and rear Trunnion Bases Complete with machined trunnion wheels,

bearings & shafts. Shafts are press-fitted into wheel centers for an interference fit and a larger shaft diameter under each wheel. Bearings are heavy-duty Dodge TAF tapered

roller bearings. The rear trunnion base includes two thrust wheels with internal bearings,

stationary shaft, and heavy-duty bolted base plates designed to hold drum laterally.

Bases are completely assembled and utilize drum tracking adjustment plates to move

entire wheel/shaft assembly for drum alignment.

1. One Natural Gas Fired Burner Systems rated for a nominal heat capacity of 36

MMBtu/hr. The Burner System is complete with the gas lance, high-temperature alloy

combustion tube, standard pilot assembly and 30 HP Combustion Air Blower with an

outlet damper and control actuator. Burner will be provided with a pre-piped fuel train

consisting of FM and UL-rated components, mounted on structural steel framework. The

fuel train will be factory-tested prior to shipping. The Burner will be rated for a NOx

emissions limited to 90 ppm at full firing rate. The gas burner system is complete with a

wall mounted flame safeguard NEMA 4 panel to control the natural gas burner and

provide signals to Buyer’s PLC controls.

1. One Dryer Air Heating Furnace to transfer controlled-temperature gases from the

burner into the rotary dryer. The Dryer Inlet Furnace is a multiple-piece construction

fabricated from ASTM A36 carbon steel with high temperature refractory lining. The

Dryer Inlet Furnace is flange-mounted to the stationary inlet end plate of the Rotary

Dryer and thus supports the inlet plate. The furnace is equipped with ambient air inlet,

structural support legs, access ports, sight glass and thermocouple connections.

Furnace layout to be vertical to help with dryer layout constraints.

1. One set, High-Efficiency Quad-Pack Cyclone Collectors. Collectors consist of four

cyclones with welded steel body with a frustoconical section fabricated from 3/16” thick

carbon steel, common material hopper with flanged discharge to rotary airlock, common

air discharge plenum and inlet air splitter. Cyclones and hopper have welded support

brackets to hold the Collectors in the structural steel support frame. Access doors will be

provided in discharge air plenum and common material hopper. Cyclone collection

efficiency estimated at 99.96%. Cyclone structural steel support and access will be

provided. Structural supports will be certified by a licensed Professional Engineer to

meet Federal, State and Local codes.

1. One Collector Discharge Airlock, 36 in. x 36 in. complete with 7.5 HP motor, flexible

rubber tips, drive and outboard bearings.

1. One Inert polishing duct/seal section, approx. 54” diameter x 12’ long, complete with

thermocouple connections, water deluge, inert polishing drop section with adjustable air

gate and dryer discharge seal with support legs. Fabricated from 3/16” thick carbon

steel.

1. One Dryer Exhaust Fan completely assembled on unitary structural frame, with 350 HP

motor and drive. Fan is complete with a high efficiency RTS wheel to provide 72,000

ACFM and 16” static pressure of hot gases pulled through the dryer, ducting and

cyclone collector and exhausted through discharge duct. The heavy duty wheel and

shaft are held in place by two tapered roller pillow block bearings. The fan will include an

Inlet Box with flush-mounted clean-out door; bearing and shaft guards, V-belt drive

guard and water drain port.

1. One Collector Discharge Reversing Screw Conveyor, ASTM A36 construction, 30”

diameter x 12’ long. The screw conveyor will be furnished with one inlet and two

discharge flanges and complete with 5 HP motor and drive assembly.

1. One Spark Detection and Suppression System, with 2 zones of protection. Zone 1 –

Spark detection and extinguish and Zone 2 – Recheck in the dryer discharge 52”

ducting. Complete with control console, alarms, manuals and installation tools. Water

supply to the suppression system required at approximately 45 psi and 70 GPM.

OPTIONAL

1 Control System and Instrumentation

2 Provide written process logic for the dryer/burner system and P&ID drawing for

control system.

1 Feedstock Metering System

2 Six (6) Self Feeder Model SF1330, complete with live-bottom drag chain slat bottom driven by a 5

HP motor and drive assembly and a Leveler Drum and Picker drum driven with 3 HP motors. Feeder is

equipped with a perpendicular screw conveyor for delivering wood chips into infeed screw conveyor.

3 Six (6) infeed Screw Conveyor, with 3 hp motor and drive. Screw conveyor will be approximately

12’ long and discharge directly into drum inlet endplate with side discharge.

2 Provide plan and elevation and detailed layout drawing for all equipment,

3 Provide approval drawings for review and acceptance by Buyer.

4 Provide written installation instructions, equipment specifications and weights with

piece-marked equipment for ease of identification and installation.

5 Provide concrete layout drawings showing equipment and anchor bolt locations and

kip loadings for Buyer’s concrete design engineer.

6 Provide complete P&ID drawing for system controls.

1. Provide hard-bound Operation and Maintenance Manuals and electronic copies of all

manual materials.
